Mounting

Presenting Art - Mounting
Conservation of Art is something that we view as paramount in all our work. Problems such as foxing and acid burns are completely avoidable where correct installation methods and materials have been used.
Artisan Frames use the highest quality conservation acid free mounts on all our work, with a beautiful range of colours, white and off white in standard sizes and extra large. Double and triple thicknesses are also available in some of the more popular colours.
In the placement of artwork within the mounted area particular attention needs to be employed to allow the work to be removed again at a future date. This is important because a lot of the value in a particular work is in how the artists created it first day, it should not be cut or stuck down as this will devalue the work and possibly lead to other problems down the road, depending on how the work was carried out.
Artisan frames use book mounts on all window mounted work and paper is held in place with Japanese hinge which are acid and lignin free.
We have a choice of backing boards including Acid free foamcor barrier lined moisture proof board and mdf with which we also use barrier boards.

Glazing

We carry Museum glass, which allows for crystal clear viewing and is up to 92% non-reflective, it also has the added advantage of up to 99% UV protection. This is very important if work is in sunlight for any period of time. We often use this glass on oil paintings and it helps to keep them in pristine condition as it is dust free.

A must for valuable and sensitive artworks.
